We don’t deserve dogs.

So, I got a new puppy. I figure the lack of sleep and constant cleanups will eventually get me close enough to deserving this dog.

This past week I wrote about how the rest of the newsletter world is waking up to the fact that [this newsletter model is dead.](https://www.cjchilvers.com/blog/this-newsletter-model-is-dead/) ‘Bout time.

Then, I posted about how [this artist’s weirdness](https://www.cjchilvers.com/blog/be-weird-save-lives/) in 1990 saved (at least) one life and inspired genre of music that would rule the charts a decade later with tens of billions of dollars in revenue. As Sally Hogshead says, “Different is better than better.”

Elsewhere, Mark Manson explains why [no one is reading books anymore](https://youtu.be/4KlNgXg25C8?si=APqr7n8UcaV%5FqTKj&ref=cjchilvers.com). His reasons are strong. So are his delusions that we can solve for the long-term, (and IMO natural) transition away from traditional books.

The idea that [AI is too busy to take your job](https://www.drorpoleg.com/ai-is-too-busy-to-take-your-job/?ref=cjchilvers.com) seems like wishful thinking, but it’s a great thought experiment too.
