# Beware of Formulas

Everyone wants simple, useful steps for becoming a better photographer. We go to the same books and blogs trying to learn techniques to enhance our photos.  
  
We want a formula.  
  
Publishers are happy to provide the formula. And it seems like a great exchange. We give them time, attention and sometimes money. They give us the education to create photos that look like what the pros make.  
  
Here’s the problem: If you have the formula, everyone has the formula.  
  
If you’re an artist, that means **you’re no longer needed**.  
  
The solution is to either not be an artist, or do what you’ve been avoiding. **Solve a creative problem**.
