I schedule my time way in advance, and that includes my writing time as well as business meetings, social events, holidays and more. I use Google Calendar but the tool is less important the actual planning and blocking out of time for creative tasks as well as the rest of life. Don't feel guilty about not having time for writing. If you feel that sense of guilt while you're doing other things, get out your calendar and block out some time when you will write. Then, let that guilt go and when that time comes, actually show up for that appointment with yourself and the blank page."
