# What’s your creative refuge?

I did a stupid thing. 

I had a summer packed with content strategy work — mostly about AI and mostly with big tech companies. 

For some reason, I decided this meant I had to really buckle down and never leave my keyboard. I took only one vacation day for the entire summer. 

The day off was part of a fun weekend of “glamping” with [friends](https://www.instagram.com/producerrachelgiordano/?ref=cjchilvers.com) in Michigan. The kids went free-range, the sunset was epic, and our tents were struck by lightning. All awesome.

When I came back, my brain was reset enough to overcome some creative problems that were stumping me.

We all know this is a real thing.   
We all have examples of the reset.   
BUT  
We all need to be reminded – constantly.

I love following [Dave Lawrence](https://davelawrence.photo/brooklyn-michigan/?ref=cjchilvers.com) and [Jamie Thingelstad](https://www.thingelstad.com/?ref=cjchilvers.com), especially for their photos of what leisure looks like in the midwest and why we all need to take more time off around here — this doesn’t last.
