Don't Cage Your Enthusiasm

I saw the first of many concerts I'll be attending this summer a few days ago. It was Cage the Elephant, the new kings of garage band rock.

Whenever I see one of their shows, I'm struck by the energy and enthusiasm they put into every single song no matter how many times they play it. It always makes me wonder how far any of us could go with that kind of enthusiasm for a message we must restate dozens of times to get it through people's skulls.

If you don't have this kind of enthusiasm for your message, why should your reader/viewer?

I guess that's the difference between 20-something me and 40-something me. 40-something me sees profound artistic solutions at a concert. 20-something me would have just been in the pit.
