Anti-Photography Bill Introduced in Texas

What’s troubling about this is that it’s a trend (nationwide and worldwide) to define journalism as old world media, and restrict free speech rights. Bills like this have been ruled unconstitutional so far here in the U.S., but it remains popular enough for the left and the right to revisit again and again.

I suspect there will be a increase in such bills to coincide with the start of internet content regulation from the FCC, as spelled out in their latest proposal on net neutrality.

I hope it won’t rise to the level of requiring journalism licenses to photograph or write about certain topics, but this has proven to be the case in Europe and seems to be what a lot of U.S. politicians want.
